JUST SAY THANK YOU
People underestimate the value of a simple thank you, because sometimes they feel it is their right for others to do something for them, and most times when the feeling of entitlement sets in, the ungrateful side of a person appears. But what they don't understand is even if you are entitled to a thing or you feel it is your right to have that thing, once it is given to you just say thank you, because people don't know how far that word goes in our lives.
Sometime ago, a friend of mine did something for me and I posted it on my status telling my friend thank you and someone else replied me saying and I quote " have you not told the person thank you, why are you now telling us?" Like I don't get why you cannot just keep your opinion to yourself, especially when it is baseless 🤷🏽, I didn't reply the message tho, but it made me think.
I was raised in a family where a simple thank you is a VERY BIG DEAL, we were taught to appreciate everything no matter how little they were, to the extent that if you don't say "thank you for yesterday" the next day, you will be reprimanded and I got used to it.
Thank you goes a long way, it pushes people to do more for you, it shows you are grateful and you appreciate what they have done. Some days back I did something for my mom and the next day when I woke up to greet her the first thing she told me was "ose ano" meaning thank you for yesterday, to be sincere I was really surprised because I did not expect it, I did not even know how to answer but it felt good.
Just like I said earlier, if you didn't say thank you for yesterday to my parents and they corrected or reminded me, I felt angry that why should I tell u thank you again when I already told you yesterday, you get? But when my mom told me that day I began to see things from their own point of view.
Learn to say thank you even to little children, don't say they are too small to understand, children observe things more than you think, teach them to be grateful right from birth so that when they grow up they will be grateful to you as parents for what you have done for them.
It would cost you nothing to say that word, learn to appreciate little things so that when big things come you will be grateful and appreciate it more. Learn to give credit to those who do something for you, give shout outs, trust me even giving photo credits matters 😂 😂 so that next time they will cross the ocean to give you that perfect picture 😌.
Thank you is a simple word that goes a long way in our lives, learn to appreciate and be grateful.
One love.
In my house too, if you say don't say thank you for yesterday my mother will punish you🤧🤧
